The Biscuit Burners are proud to announce the release
of third full-length album, Take Me Home, on March
13.
With a packed international tour schedule that
has brought them to Merlefest, Bonaroo, and Mountain
Stage, The Biscuit Burners have established themselves
as one of the most exciting and entertaining acoustic
bands today. The band’s latest release, Take
Me Home, presents a new chapter of their “Fiery
Mountain Music,” one that is rich with innovation,
energy, and a love of many musical traditions. Combining
virtuoso instrumentation (Dobro, guitar, fiddle,
and bass) with heartfelt lead singing and sweet
harmonies, The Biscuit Burners give an Appalachian
voice to influences ranging from bluegrass and Americana
to jazz and East Indian.
Based in Weaverville, North Carolina, the individual
band members have been getting the attention of
fans and musicians alike. Mary Lucey’s (bass)
songwriting was showcased at MerleFest, she toured
internationally with the old time band Uncle Earl,
and Bluegrass Now wrote a feature article about
her. Billy Cardine (dobro), known the world over
as one of the most creative and accomplished Dobro
players, was recently brought in by Grammy-winning
producer Randy Kohrs to record on a Scheerhorn resonator
guitar compilation CD. Dan Bletz’s (guitar)intricate
and fluid guitar work was showcased in Flatpicking
Guitar Magazine, and Odessa Jorgensen’s (fiddle)
smooth, subtle vocals and top-notch musicianship
have earned her praise as the perfect addition to
The Biscuit Burners’ lineup.
The Biscuit Burners have been featured on BBC World
TV’s Destination Music, NPR’s Mountain
Stage, PBS’ Roadtrip Nation, and The History
Channel’s Our Generation. They have had feature
articles in Bluegrass Now, Bluegrass Unlimited,
Marquee Magazine, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, Chicago
Tribune, Singer & Musician, American Songwriter,
and Dirty Linen.
“History doesn’t just happen. People
have to make it. The Biscuit Burners are making
musical history right now. I know because I heard
them do it - just last night.” - Tullio DeSantis,
Reading Eagle, July 2007
“They have a captivatingly unique sound that’s
all their own, yet rich with heritage and culture.
Their music is a breath of fresh air in this stale
period of lifeless pop music culture." - Greg
Tutwiler, Singer & Musician Magazine
“The result is a brand of bluegrass as clean
and smooth as a mountain stream.” - American
Songwriter
“The last (band) I heard that really blew
me away was the Biscuit Burners.” - Joe Perry
of Aerosmith
